About me

I got tired of seeing so many other stock market education programs promising to get rich quick schemes with options trading and other high-risk strategies targeting beginning traders that I started my own content - for real traders ready to do the work necessary to become financially independent. 

The truth is, trading is hard! It’s never about easy money or getting rich quickly. I’m known for my straightforward, no-BS approach to day trading.

Business Success

  • Founder of Scaleocity Works, a full-service HR Management and Payroll Company. After getting burned out from building a business that did not fit my lifestyle, I transitioned to trading full-time after trading part-time since 2008. 
  • Built my business foundation in Fortune 500 and privately held businesses for 15+ years.
  • Learned my trading & investing skills working from 2008 through 2012 for a successful stock market education company. 

Personal Milestones

  • Graduated with a Juris Doctor while working full time
  • Started the Disciplined Traders Academy in 2022 
  • Stepped outside my comfort zone and started using video for marketing! 
  • Learned to live life by my definition of success
  • Trading since 2008 and am now trading full time.

Life

  • Married my best friend and business partner for over 25 years

WHY

  • We are not taught about the power of the stock market, basic finance, or wealth creation in school. My mission is to empower everyone working hard to make someone else wealthy how to take control of their own financial freedom.

Brian, how did you learn to trade?

As far back as I could remember I had a fascination with the stock market. In 2007, I decided to take action and learn everything I could about the markets, how they worked and how I could use the markets to my advantage. 

  • I spend $4,000 on an introductory course on stocks and options 
  • In 2008, I promptly lost my trading portfolio in the Great Recession of 2008. 
  • I went to work for a stock market education company so that I could immerse myself in education. 
  • In the end, I stayed consistent in my quest to become a consistent and profitable trader. 

What kind of training did you need?

The type of training you need to trade consistently and profitably in the stock market is what you will learn when you join the Disciplined Traders Academy. You will learn -

  • The fundamentals of how the stock market works
  • Understand your personal reasons for starting a trading business

  • Technical charting and pattern recognition

Isn't trading in the stock market a get rich quick scheme?

If your goal is to get rich quickly or make enough money to pay the bills next month, then the Disciplined Traders Academy is not for you. 

Learning to trade profitably takes a process of continued learning, continued evolving to the market, and an ability to endure the losing market days with the winning market days.  

Will I lose money in the stock market?

The answer to this is YES! You will lose money in the stock market. But you will also gain money in the stock market. 

The key is to sure your winning trades outpace your losing trades/ 

The key to success is learning to -

  • Establish a solid trade thesis before entering a trade
  • Having your trade plan designed to manage the trade if it goes according to plan OR if the trade goes against you. 
  • Managing the risk throughout the lifecycle of the trade.
  • Utilizing the minimum 2 to 1 reward-to-risk ratio so that your winning trades outpace the losing trades 

Do you teach options trading

No, we are not offering options trading education right now. 

Learning to trade is no different than learning math in school. You need to learn how to calculate 2+2 without the help of a calculator before using a calculator to do the work.

New traders need to become proficient in analyzing and trading equities before ever using options. Options are just a tool to trade the underlying equity, and if you don't understand how to trade equities, you will lose quite a bit of money trading options.

That's great to see that you've already taken the first step and started learning to trade. 

We only work with individuals brand new to trading. However, I am happy to schedule a call with you so we can see where you are in your education lifecycle. If we are not the right fit for you, we know plenty of other programs to refer you to.
